Description:Cooper Carry, a leading architectural and design firm, is seeking a Human Resource Director to lead the human resource function for the total corporate entity. We have three office locations in Atlanta, GA, Alexandria, VA and New York, NY. The Human Resources Director, working under the direction of and in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer, will concentrate on the formulation and implementation of human resources policies and programs for the Firm. The essential functions of the Human Resources Director are to provide advice and direction, interpretation of laws, guidance, training and collaborative support to the Firm’s executives, managers, supervisors, and employees on personnel matters and recruiting.

This position will be based in our centrally located, downtown, Atlanta office with convenient access to MARTA and other transit systems.

Duties:Specific responsibilities of the Human Resources Director include, but are not limited to:

• Ensure compliance of the Firm with applicable laws and agencies not limited to EEO, OSHA, PPACA, etc.
• Oversee creation of annual affirmative action program.
• Organize and administer on-boarding and new hire orientation (responsible for HR portion of orientation) and coordinating other departments (Information Technology, the Business Office, Facilities Management, Technical Services, employee and supervisor).
• Annual benefits renewal and open enrollment coordination. Manage benefit program; keep-up-to-date on available options, make annual recommendations for changes to management. Participate on the Firm’s benefits committee.
• Work with insurance broker throughout the year to resolve employee claims issues and file necessary compliance reports (5500s, Medicare creditable coverage notices, etc.)
• Act as the point person for employee relations matters.
• Coordinate 90-day performance reviews for new hires and administer the annual performance review process for staff.
• Administer FMLA leave and other leave programs as necessary.
• Keep the firm up to date and in compliance as laws changed or are amended.
• Coordinate the recruiting process including updating careers page of the Cooper Carry website via iApplicant, placing job position postings either through iApplicant/JobTarget or directly with the job boards, coordinating interviews, and issuing offer letters.
• Job fair recruiting/representation: schedule representation at job and recruiting fairs.
• Coordinate H-1B, F and permanent residency immigration matters in coordination with legal counsel.
• Serve as liaison to governmental or community agencies, and legal representatives as they relate to the employment relations functions of the firm.
• Assist management with salary data for new hires and compensation committee.
• Participate in industry specific salary and benefits surveys for benchmarking purposes.
• Supervise HR Assistant in maintenance of the aspects of HRIS database (benefits, compensation, personal information, etc.), eVerify, etc.
• Resolve issues escalated from the HR assistant in regard to benefits administration, HRIS issues, and answering employee questions.
• Research and recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to affect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
• Act as an ambassador for the Firm’s corporate social responsibility endeavors. Assist various coordinating teams in strategizing, planning and delivering employee social and community service events.
Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in HR Management or related field.
• PHR certification required.
• Eight plus years of progressive human resources experience.
• Knowledge of applicable federal/state statutes and regulations for the states referenced above.
• Experience working in a professional services environment (architecture or design preferred; engineering, legal, accounting, etc.).
• Experience recruiting professional services employees including management of immigration processes in coordination with outside legal counsel.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Working knowledge of ADP HRB/WorkforceNow preferred.

The successful candidate will have a professional presence, understanding of the HR body of knowledge and legal/compliance environment, ability to maintain confidentiality regarding employee matters and an ability to interact with employees at all staff levels from entry through executives.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on HR professional able to multi-task and support multiple office locations simultaneously. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to recognize what needs to be done and prioritize activities accordingly.
